Please note: This latest software update addresses the issues some owners experienced on Gold Wings equipped with CB radios.
**NOTE: The screen used in the instructions below are examples only. The actual SW version numbers may differ from the illustrations.
Connect the USB drive containing the downloaded file to your motorcycle. Gold Wing Airbag models have the USB connector located in the trunk; all other Gold Wing models have the connector located in the center storage compartment in front of the seat.
Turn your motorcycle’s ignition switch clockwise twice in order to engage the ACC position and turn off the headlights. Within one minute, an update message should appear on your dashboard screen as shown above:
Use the four-way switch on your left handlebar cluster to select "Yes", and press "Enter" in the centre of the four-way switch.
The update may take between 30-60 minutes, depending on the data and region. The screen will show you approximately how much of the update has completed. The ignition switch must remain in the ACC position for the entire duration of the update. Do not start your motorcycle during this process.
As you near the end of the update, the screen may show "99% is completed" for several minutes. This is normal. Please allow the system update to complete the process.
Once the update is complete, the system will restart and the initial update screen will reappear and prompt you to update the system. Both software versions shown should now match, indicating a successful update. Select "No" and remove the USB drive.
Updating your navigation system will overwrite your favorites and history, and also resets the system "beep" tone volume to the default value. Updating the system will not affect radio presets.
2018 GL1800 models: There will be a new “SXM” selection displayed on the function bar at the bottom of the display as shown below. This function is for Sirius XM radio and is not available on 2018 models.
